ADMISSION PROCESS

are ONLY accepted December 1 through to the first day
of fall classes each year or until the program is full.

  1.   2. Secretary begins file on applicant with checklist.

ENTRANCE EXAMS

  1. Take the COMPASS math test or utilize the enhanced ACT mathematics score to determine math placement (tests are waived for the applicants who have completed (a grade of "C" or above) the appropriate level of math class).
    1. COMPASS math score (Pre-Algebra) of 47 or below: take the appropriate developmental math class, using math placement schedule (progressing through a minimum of Beginning Algebra). Admission to the program will be contingent on successful completion (a grade of "C" or above) of the appropriate course before enrollment into the program.
    2. COMPASS math score (Pre-Algebra) of 48 or above: the applicant can proceed in the admission process.
    3. Enhanced ACT mathematics score of 17 or below: take the appropriate developmental math class, using math placement schedule (progressing through a minimum of Beginning Algebra). Admission to the program will be contingent on successful completion (a grade of "C" or above) of the appropriate course before enrollment into the program.
    4. Enhanced ACT mathematics score of 18 or above: the applicant can proceed in the admission process.
  2. Take the COMPASS Writing and Reading tests to determine English and Psychology placement (tests are waived for applicants who have completed (a grade of "C" or above) the appropriate level of writing and reading classes).
    1. COMPASS Writing score of 67 or below and COMPASS Reading score of 77 or below: take the appropriate developmental writing class(es) progressing through a minimum of Writing Skills IV and/or take the appropriate developmental reading class(es) progressing through a minimum of Reading Skills II. Admission to the program will be contingent on successful completion (a grade of "C" or above) of the appropriate course(s) before enrollment into the program.
    2. COMPASS Writing score of 68 or above and a COMPASS Reading score of 78 or above: the applicant can proceed in the admission process.
    3. Enhanced ACT English score and Reading score of 17 or below: take the appropriate developmental writing and/or reading class(es), using the writing/reading placement schedule (progressing through a minimum of Writing Skills IV and Reading Skills II). Admission to the program will be contingent on successful completion (a grade of "C" or above) of the appropriate course(s) before enrollment into the program.
    4. Enhanced ACT English and Reading score of 18 or above: the applicant can proceed in the admission process.

CONSULTATION

  1. Applicant meets with the Financial Aid Director to discuss financial aid, and signs and submits the "Financial Aid Director Interview Verification Form" to the Allied Health Education Center.

INTERVIEW

  1. After receiving the admission forms, health record, transcripts, financial aid interview verification form, and after successfully completing the COMPASS exams, the secretary will schedule an interview for the applicant with a faculty member. The applicant is notified by mail or telephone of the date and time of the appointment.
  2. The interview is conducted by a faculty member.

SELECTION PROCESS

  1. The selection process occurs as follows:
    1. The data from the completed forms, transcripts, and interview is transferred to the Admission Evaluation Tabulation form and the tabulation score is computed. The applicants are then ranked in order of their scores.
    2. The Allied Health Admission Committee meets during March and as needed to review the recommendations of the Allied Health programs. Decisions are made to admit, defer, or reject each recommendation.
    3. The applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance, deferral, or rejection status.
    4. RT applicants whose application packets are complete by March 10 will be notified by mail of their acceptance, deferral, or rejection status by the middle of April. Admission applications completed after March 10 will be considered by the Allied Health Admissions Committee as needed. These applicants will be notified by mail of their acceptance, deferral, or rejection status immediately following the next scheduled admissions meeting.

READMISSION PROCESS

  1. For students who have previously been in an Allied Health program and have successfully completed a portion of the curriculum requirements, readmission to the program can be sought as follows (this readmission will be subject to openings in the class to which admission is being sought)
    1. Complete the application form to the Allied Health Division.
    2. Readmission may require demonstration of competency for course placement in the program.
    3. Complete other admission requests at the discretion of the director of the program.
    4. For admission to the spring semester, the specific program faculty will review the applicant's past admission records and the above forms. A recommendation will be made regarding acceptance into the program for the following semester.
    5. The Allied Health Admission Committee will review the recommendations of the faculty and a decision regarding the selection will be made at this time.
    6. The applicant will be notified by mail of their acceptance, deferral, or rejection status.
